NFL Partner Pizza Hut Puts ‘Fans On The Clock’ With Time-Limited Offer During The 2019 Draft

Pizza Hut, now in its second year as the official pizza for the NFL, is celebrating the fans who made the first 12 months a marketing success by putting them on the clock to redeem an exclusive offer during the 2019 NFL Draft ceremony.

During the decision time allocated to the Arizona Cardinals to make the very first pick of this year’s Draft, Pizza Hut unveiled a limited-time code enabling people to redeem 50% off all menu-priced pizzas to use online throughout the 2019 NFL Draft ceremony.

The pizza brand teamed up with 2016’s number one pick and current Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff to promote the event-linked offer across Twitter, Instagram or Facebook.

The campaign also offered NFL fans and pizza lovers a chance to enter a competition to be in with a chance to win a VIP trip to a 2019-2020 NFL regular season game of their choice if they use the code.

Plus, Pizza Hut will also recognise the 78th overall pick of the NFL Draft – which the brand calls the ‘Pi Pick’ (the 14th pick in the third round) – by awarding the chosen player with free pizza for a year to help get him through his rookie NFL season.

There was further Draft led social content,

while for those fans traveling in person to Nashville for the 2019 NFL Draft, Pizza Hut launched a set of Nashville-inspired, pizza-fuelled experiences to keep the celebration going through the week.

This included a return of the Pizza Hut Super Bowl LIII experience which enabled fans to be able to dance alongside Pizza Hut player partner JuJu Smith-Schuster via an augmented reality experience at Nissan Stadium.

And, for those who dance up an appetite, plenty of Pizza Hut pizza will be available on site.

“With year one of the sponsorship under our belt, it’s a surreal feeling to return to where it all began: the NFL Draft,” said Pizza Hut chief brand officer Marianne Radley.

“Football fans have been our focal point since becoming the Official Pizza Sponsor of the NFL, and to say ‘thank you,’ we teamed up with our player partner Jared Goff to offer fans a deal fit for the first round.”

It was back in 2018 that Pizza Hut replaced Papa John’s as the official NFL pizza partner when it penned a multi-year sponsorship agreement.

This deal saw it scoop up a broad package of exclusive marketing rights, benefits and designations and, in its first year as the Official Pizza Sponsor of the NFL, Pizza Hut’s strategy was to bring the in-stadium experience to football fans’ living rooms through Game Plan.

Game Plan is a digital platform allowing fans to sign up for exclusive game day deals and kick-off reminders which were promoted via campaigns fronted by partnership deals with some of the most loved teams and players in the league (see case study).
