Sportsbook FanDuel returned to the NLF’s Big Game in 2024 with a multi-spot, re-work campaign titled ‘Kick of Destiny 2’: a sequel to FanDuel’s live Super Bowl commercial stunt from last year which saw former player Rob ‘Gronk’ Gronkowski miss a field goal.
This year, Gronk returned to try and redeem himself.
Ahead of the official commercial’s launch, FanDuel released a series of teaser spots, which sees Gronk encounter various believers and doubters on his road to his Super Bowl LVIII redemption.
The initiative was hubbed around a bespoke, umbrella website at https://www.kickofdestiny.com/.
As part of the campaign, FanDuel users can make a free ‘Make or Miss’ pick on Gronk’s kick through the FanDuel Sportsbook app. Those who choose correctly will win a share of $10m in FanDuel bonus wagers.
Wieden+Kennedy New York is the creative agency behind the effort to prove that in sport and in marketing there actually are second chances and do-overs.
