Cleveland Brown’s QB Baker Mayfield Meets Rock Star Alice Cooper In Latest ‘At Home With’ Progressive Ad

Two stars from the sport and music arenas – Baker Mayfield and Alice Cooper – meet in Season 3 of Progressive’s ongoing ‘At Home With Baker Mayfield’ US campaign which is based around the Cleveland Browns quarterback experiencing relatable and mundane aspects of homeownership.

Created by agency Arnold Worldwide and continuing a ‘funny because it’s true’ comic marketing approach, the latest commercial rolled out in the last week of October and sees Mayfield involved in a package delivery mix-up.

Baker receives a mis-delivered package that should have been sent to his neighbour Alice Cooper who lives next door to the NFL star’s FirstEnergy Stadium residence at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Both of which are in Cleveland (Ohio).

The spot launched in the middle of the NFL season and leveraged the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s annual induction event on 30 October.

The spot, titled ‘‘Baker Mayfield Has a Package Mix-Up’, offered ‘Hall of Fame’ level savings by bundling home and auto insurance

“At some point, we realized that living at FirstEnergy Stadium meant that Baker was neighbors with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. And neighbour politics are such a huge part of homeownership. Like it or not, everything from our day-to-day happiness to our long-term financial well-being is affected by whoever ends up living next door,” explained Arnold CCO Sean McBride. “So for any homeowner, there’s real tension and meaning in those relationships. In this spot, I think we take great advantage of that voltage by essentially playing the joke the opposite of how you’d expect us to play it. Alice Cooper isn’t the neighbour who keeps you up all night with parties and loud music. he’s the online shopping addict, the neighbour who wants to borrow a tool to get some yardwork done before it’s too late in the season.”

Comment:

The Alice Cooper spot was quickly followed by ‘Baker Mayfield Hires a House Sitter’ on 29 October and was preceded earlier in the autumn by ‘Hot Goss’ and ‘Yard Sale’.
