NFL/NBC’s Inspirational New NFL Season ‘Together We Make Football’

Two weeks before the new season kicks off, the NFL and broadcast partner NBC relaunch their joint ‘Together We Make Football’ campaign with an invitation to all fans to share their own inspirational football stories.

Essentially a season-opening Super Bowl ticket competition, this initiative encourages consumer-created (film and/or photo) content that sees fans socially share their stories about how the sport inspires them.

They are incentivised through a ticket competition to win a VIP trip to Super Bowl 50 in the San Francisco 49ers new Levi’s Stadium.

To enter, fans simply need to visit either www.togetherwemakefootball.com or www.today.com/TWMF and share a video or an image along with a brief description outlining how football inspires them.

The launch is promoted through PR and via a set of edited film highlights of recent stand-out entries,

and through a webfilm featuring NFL stars Tony Dungy, Marcus Allen, Deion Sanders surprising last year’s winning contestants.

The campaign opens on 11 September and will unfold weekly throughout the 2015/16 NFL season with TV segments airing Fridays on NBC’s ‘Today’ and culminating in a nationally televised NFL Films special on NBC on the weekend of the Divisional Playoffs.

Following the submissions deadline, a combined NFL/NBC panel will select five finalists whose stories will be turned into short features by NFL Films.

These will be unveiled weekly on Today from 4 December and the grand prize winning story will be announced live on Today on 8 January, 2016.

All stories aired on Today will also be posted on NFL.com/videos/twmf throughout the season.

Comment

This is the latest iteration of the “Together We Make Football’ campaign which was initially launched back in 2013.

Since then thousands of fans have shared their stories of what football means to them.

It was one of the first property owner campaigns to encourage and incentivise fans to socially share their emotions and feelings about the sport – something that now has become a fairly widespread trend.

Last year’s winning submissions were featured in a YouTube film posted on 28 January, 2015 – just before the Super Bowl.
