TeamViewer & Man Utd’s ‘Push New Boundaries’ Film To Unveil Next Principal Shirt Sponsorship

To unveil their new principal shirt partnership, Manchester United and European software company TeamViewer posted a celebratory online video called ‘Push New Boundaries’.

The 60-second spot, featuring leading players from the men’s and women’s teams, was posted across the new principal partner company’s digital and social platforms (and some of the club’s channels too) and focuses on the partnership proposition that the brand and the team are ‘two global winning teams united by a passion to connect people around the world and bringing fans closer than ever before to the club that they love’.

TeamViewer, a technology remote access and support provider (which says its connectivity platform is installed on over 2.5bn devices, has 600,000 subscribers and operates in almost every country in the world), will work with the club to ‘bring fans closer to the team through augmented reality (AR) solutions and remote access to the team’s Old Trafford home’.

The partnership with the German technology company and the English football club will set out to introduce Manchester United and its 1.1 billion fans and followers around the world to new technology drawing on TeamViewer’s expertise in remote connectivity services to enhance the club’s global community of fans spanning cultures and continents.

The partnership strategy, will, according to the sponsor, be based around three pillars: the fans, the team and the business.

For the fans, the tie-up will include virtual stadium experiences, unique behind-the-scenes content, Augmented Reality (AR) at Old Trafford and for fans at-home and enhanced club museum experiences.

For the team the alliance will bring enhanced training and performance through AR, remote access to players for scheduling and training, remote access and AR for medical examinations and it will enabled scouts through remote access technology.

While for the club as a business, TeamViwer will bring enhanced accessibility and IT support for offices, Internet of Things (IoT) solutions for stadium controls to optimize safety and security, plus upgraded sustainability at the stadium and all club locations through remote work and IoT solutions

TeamViewer CEO Oliver Steil commented: “We are very excited about this partnership, as it will significantly expand our brand positioning and it will help us to market our comprehensive solutions portfolio to all customer segments globally.”

Manchester United’s Managing Director Richard Arnold said: “We are tremendously proud to be establishing this partnership with one of the most exciting and dynamic global software companies. We are looking forward to working with TeamViewer to bring to life our vision for a partnership built on smarter ways of connecting people and businesses.”

TeamViewer’s deal sees its replace Chevrolet on the front of the Premier League giant’s shirts in five-year deal beginning at the start of the 2021/22 season.

It has been widely reported that United’s previous seven-year deal with Chevrolet was worth £64m a season and that whilst official terms of the new tie-up were not announced the TeamViewer partnership has been reported at around £50m per season which will represent a drop in annual shirt revenue but still sees the Red Devil’s boast the most lucrative shirty sponsor in the Premier League.
