Sportsbet Previews Start Of New Aussie Rugby League Season Via Comic ‘NRL The Board Game’ Campaign

Sportsbet previewed the upcoming NRL season through the perspective of playing ‘NRL The Board Game’ in another cheeky campaign collaboration with production agency Sherpa.

The comic campaign, launched on 10 March, is based around the idea that no team is safe from the brand’s honest assessment of the chances of all NRL 16 – although the new season gives them all a chance to roll the dice in ‘a game of thrill, suspense and unknown chances’.

The hero spot sees the North Queensland Cowboys and Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs play a never-ending game of ‘Four-In-A-Row’, while several clubs line up to thrash the lowly St George Illawarra Dragons in a game of ‘Guess Who’s Leaving’, while viewers don’t need to even ask the Canberra Raiders what happens they roll six again.

The ‘NRL The Board Game’ commercial aims to generate excitement, buzz and bets ahead of the start of the new season and runs on the league’s broadcast partners Channel Nine and Fox League as well as across Sportsbet and NRL social channels.

The campaign was created in-house by Sportsbet and produced by Sherpa and the team included Creative Director Rambo Goraya, Copywriters Chris Chard and Hammy Goodman, with Director Tom Linford, DOP Liam Gilmour, Editor Marc Verna, with Executive Producer Nat Taylor and Producer Shantini Devi.

Sportsbet Communications Manager Rich Hummerston commented: “Come the eve of the season, punters are always on the lookout for the annual Sportsbet NRL video. We don’t hold back in assessing each team’s pre-season chances but every club gets a fair whack and as always, it’s all in good fun.”

The video was produced by Sportsbet’s in-house team in collaboration with Sherpa.
