‘Our England’ Film Unveils The FA’s England Women’s UEFA Euro 2022 Squad

Late June saw singer-songwriter Joy Crookes team up with a crowd of celebrities and soccer stars for the launch of a film titled ‘Our England’ which both celebrates and reveals the England Women’s football squad for UEFA Women’s EURO 2022.

The commercial features a young girl in her bedroom opening up her Panini football sticker book preparing to fill it in with her favourite players. Suddenly her room opens up and takes her on a dreamy soccer adventure that leads to Wembley.

The spot also celebrates the diversity of the women’s game – from players to fans – as it seeks to show how the beautiful game ‘unites and ignites passion’ throughout England.

As well as former England internationals David Beckham, Ian Wright, Rio Ferdinand and Alex Scott, other famous faces in the film include Olympic skateboarding medallist Sky Brown, BBC DJ Clara Amfo, comedian Munya Chawawa and creators Amelia Dimoldenberg, Chunkz, Yungfilly, Elz, Francis Bourgeois and Joelah.

Crookes, a three-time Brit-nominated musician wrote the narrative of a film which not only builds excitement and buzz and offers messages about community and unity as it seeks to bring the country together in support of the home team for the summer tournament. The lyrics explore the various journeys that each of the players selected have taken to reach this climactic career moment.

The video, which closes with an ‘Our England’ rallying call, dropped on 15 June across England and the FA channels.

The spot was helmed by Sticker Studios’ Director India Harris.

“It was an absolute honour to be part of this announcement and to be given the opportunity to stand alongside these 23 incredible women as they get ready for the EUROs this summer,” commented Crookes. “Hopefully I’ve been able to capture the true spirit of the team and excite fans across the country to come together and give this squad the support they deserve when the tournament kicks-off in July.”

Former England international and current BBC Football Focus anchor Alex Scott added: “This summer is set to be special, we’re on home soil and have an incredibly talented squad lining up for us. But, what makes this summer even more significant, is the potential that this tournament and these players hold in inspiring the next generation of female players.”
