Oakley Teams Welcomes New Ambassador Kylian Mbappé Via ‘Be Who You Are’ Endorser Campaign

Best known for its sports spectacles, the self-styled product design and sports performance brand Oakley unveiled its new multi-year partnership with football super star Kylian Mbappé with a ‘Welcome To #TeamOakley’ campaign running under the brand’s ‘Be Who You Are’ brand platform.

 

The hero film chronicles the 23-year-old’s journey from his humble beginnings in the Paris suburbs to becoming Paris Saint-Germain’s and France’s star striker with a focus on his individual attitude and spirit. Indeed, whilst many football analysts describe Mbappé as a once-in-a-generation talent, the creative highlights that it was his griot and determination as well as his natural talent that shot hom to global fame.

 

The campaign launched on 13 January across Oakley’s own digital platforms and was supported by the player’s personal social channels and sees Mbappé promote Oakley’s lifestyle eyewear collection off the field.

 

 

 

“Everyone knows what I’m all about when it comes to football – now, I’m excited to partner with a brand that wants to share my story off the pitch, and support what I want to do to help inspire global youth,” said Mbappé. “The ‘Be Who You Are’ message resonated very strongly with me and I want to help instil that belief in staying true to yourself and that self confidence in others. And of course, the eyewear is pretty cool.”

This campaign follows in the footsteps of previous Oakley ‘Be Who You Are’ sports endorser campaigns featuring athletes such as Australian surfer Julian Williams, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson and fellow NFL super star and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
