Man City FC Auto Partner Nissan Celebrates EPL Title Via Dynamic Animation

Nissan, the official automotive partner of newly crowned English Premier League Manchester City FC, celebrated the club winning the 2021/2 title with a ‘Congratulations’ animation.

 

Created through sport and entertainment agency Dark Horses and crafted by Friends Electric director Polynoid, the spot celebrates Manchester’s light blue team’s retention of the world’s most watched domestic league trophy by animating an engraved action- packed game right on to the chassis of the car company’s ne electric Nissan Ariya model.

 

Rolled out across its social channels from 23 May – just a few hours after the club clinched its fourth title in the last five years – the simple 30-second spot features a GCI laser cutter etching a ‘champions’ message and celebrating players onto the body work of a gold vehicle.

 

 

The campaign was created for Nissan by a team at agency Dark Horses which included Agency Producer Andy Walsh with Production Company Friends Electric where the group was led by Executive Producers Barney Richard and Giles Edward-N. The animation was handled by Polynoid with ECD Jan Bitzer, Creative Director Csaba Letay, Executive Producer Crystal Campbell, Producers Ian Otto and Angelika Wdowiak, Lead 3D Artists Christoffer Wolters and Paul Schicketanz, 3D Artist Markus Eschrich, 2D Roto-Animator Dzhuliya Kolontay, plus Compositing Artist Falko Paeper and 3D FX Artist Fabian Pross.

With a tight creative concept to delivery timeline and a low-latency roll-out responding to the team’s win on 22 May, this is a simple, yet effective animated activation.

 

This low-latency, title-winning activation followed on from the previous week’s Nissan Ariya ‘Be More Pep’ activation fronted by City manager Pep Guardiola.
