Ireland’s Gym+Coffee Activates Official Activewear Partnership of The Great Run Series

The Irish athleisure brand Gym+Coffee activated its new two-year deal to become the Official Activewear Partner of the Great Run Series through an integrated campaign spearheaded by an announcement spot and supporting social content which dropped across the brand’s social channels from 15 March.

Rolling out through March, the campaign promoting the new partnership with The Great Run ( the UKs biggest mass participation sports events organiser) is built around the theme of a shared, inclusive vision to bring people together with the joy and challenge of running aligned with values.

The partnership is scheduled to start at the Great Birmingham Run on 1 May and this will mark the start of a 24-month tie-up that will see Gym+Coffee support grassroots runners through the Great Run training program by enabling them to join the brand’s ‘Great Runners’ community for pre-event guidance, access to an event day hub and rewards.

“We are incredibly excited to announce our partnership with Great Run, the UKs original running event series,” said Gym+Coffee Co-Founder Diarmuid McSweeney. “It’s a fantastic opportunity for the brand to reach out to a new audience and introduce them to Gym+Coffee.”

The Great Run Company Commercial Director Nicky Homes added: “It’s fantastic to have Gym+Coffee on board as the official activewear partner for the Great Run Series over the next two years. The brand shares the kind of energy and community spirit that mirrors our own philosophy for our events. We’re excited to bring this partnership to our participants to further support them on their journey to achieving their goals and being their greatest.”

The partnership dovetails with the Irish athleisure company’s strategic focus on building a sense of community and in facilitating fun ways to exercise and stay healthy (with their own quality gear, of course). Formed in 2017, it produces Irish-designed athleisure clothing and sportswear sold primarily through e-commerce platforms in Europe, the UK, North America, Australia + New Zealand, as well as through its 7 retail Clubhouses in Ireland and the UK.

In 2020, it launched its first collection of sustainable athleisure products and continues to broaden its positive impact through partnerships with organisations, like, One Tree Planted, where it has committed to planting 50,000 trees to help with global reforestation efforts. With its Waste2Wear project it offers award-winning sustainable products, like, its carry-bags made from recycled materials and via social initiatives with partners, like, The Sanctuary Runners, it works with refugees and asylum seekers living in Ireland’s Direct Provision system.

The Great Run Series attracts more than 170,000 runners across seven races in cities across England and Scotland each year: the series includes the prestigious Great North Run, the UKs biggest running event, and the Great Manchester Run (featuring a 10k and half marathon) both of which are broadcast live on the BBC.
