FC Porto Partners With Binance For Digital Engagements Fronted By Port Fan Token Issue

In the first week of November Portuguese Primeira Liga giants FC Porto promoted a new partnership with cryptocurrency brand Binance which introduced a new way to engage its fans through Porto Fan Tokens on the Binance Fan Token Platform.

Linked to the red hot digital collectible/NFT trend, the multi-year tie-up with Binance – the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange – sees the brand pen a back-of-shirt sponsorship for 2021/22 season and sleeve sponsor for the remainder of the partnership in return for providing meaningful, interactive and fun digital engagement experiences for Dragões fans.

The first activation was based around the Porto Fan Token issue: a utility token providing fans with new ways to engage with the club available via the website, launchpad, and via Spot, bank card purchases and P2P.

The token activation was promoted through an integrated, social-first campaign led by a hero video,  supporting clips and image content amplified across club and sponsor owned channels and via a PR push.

Binance C-Founder and CEO Changpeng Zhao added: “Binance Fan Tokens are a new and exciting way for supporters to engage with their favorite teams. FC Porto is not only one of the most established football clubs in Europe, but it is also one of the most innovative. With the FC Porto Fan Token, fans can collect rare NFTs, participate in exclusive polls, and unlock one-of-a-kind Fan Badges and rewards based on their level of engagement. We look forward to a long and successful partnership with FC Porto.”

“It’s another established partnership that helps us keep up with the evolution of today’s world, to leverage digital assets, and, above all, to be closer to our fans and their interests,” commented FC Porto President Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa. “This is an agreement that values FC Porto and the partner, which is something we seek in every partnership we establish and also in our day-to-day work. Those who join FC Porto know that they are associating with a club that wants to be first in everything.”
