Tenzing London Branded Running Event Launches Energy Drink’s Clean Air Tool For Runners

July saw the energy drinks brand Tenzing stage its first-ever Clean Air Run in order to to mark the launch of the company’s new Clean Air Tool for runners.

 

This new Clean Air Run initiative allows health-conscious runners to attend weekly runs in London alongside a member of the Tenzing team.

 

The debut branded run started in one of the most polluted areas of London and finished in one of the cleanest.

 

 

As for the air cleaning tool itself, Tenzing teamed up with King’s College London designed to help runners find clean-air runs in the capital.

 

 

Using data collected by King’s College London, the Tenzing team mapped where the most polluted areas are and where people run.

 

The data also shows that by ‘taking back streets and running through parks’, amateur runners can reduce their personal air pollution exposure by 50% (compared to running on busier main roads).

 

The tool, available on mobile devices, enables users to create their own running route and offers challenges to find the cleanest routes in the city.

 

“We started Tenzing Natural Energy to offer people a natural alternative in a market dominated by synthetic energy drinks. What applies to the food and drinks we consume, also applies for the air we breathe,” said Tenzing Founder Huib van Bockel.

 

“As keen runners ourselves we were shocked to find out the appalling air quality we run in in London. Now with our new tech based on King’s College’s data we can help find runners the cleanest air routes to go for a run.”

 

While King’s College London Researcher Andrew Grieve added: “Every day I see people out for their lunchtime jog, running along some of the capital’s most polluted roads. Running is great for health, but it’s even better on low pollution routes.

 

“By partnering with Tenzing I hope that we can help the London running community dodge air pollution and find that clean air run.”

Combining a crucial cause topic and linked practical utility with an ongoing participatory strand continues what is becoming an on-trend approach to running activation by providing direct, practical help.
