Red Bull Teams Up With Freerunning Legend Petkuns To Create & Play A Giant ‘Human Pinball’ Machine

Mid-September saw Red Bull TV release a short film called ‘Human Pinball’ which features famous Latvian freerunner and Red Bull ‘Art of Motion’ champion Pasha Petkuns.

The digital and social video showcases a huge freerunning ‘Human Pinball’ site built around a 16-meter high wall tilted at a 45-degree angle to create near-impossible angles for jumps and catches as the champion freerunner and drinks brand ambassador tackles the arcade game style course.

The angle of the wall is actually based on a bridge in Petkuns’ home country, Latvia, where he practised and perfected his craft as he trained to become one of the greatest freerunners in history. Petkuns eventually moving to USA where he worked as a Hollywood stunt double.

It was whilst living in the USA and taking a classic North American road trip that Petkuns first discovered the nostalgic joy of pinball machines and he combined these two inspirations into his personal ‘dream challenge’ of becoming a human pinball.

Following a mammoth seven-week set build, ‘Human Pinball’ was filmed in London in May 2021 during a tough three-week shoot where Pasha truly tested his physical limits.

The resulting ‘Freerunning In The World’s Biggest Pinball Machine’ film was launched on 14 September and amplified across red Bull’s own digital and social channels, showcases the ambassador’s athletic and stylistic abilities and it also references periods of his life from his childhood to Hollywood.

The hero spot is supported by a behind-the-scenes video.
