The 2019/20 Premier League season resumed behind closed doors on the 18 June after 100 days away and to celebrate the resumption and encourage fans to enjoy its return from the safety of their own homes, the league itself launched a video showcasing some of the innovative and varied ways supporters will be cheering on their Premier League teams from home.
The campaign, developed with agency FCB Inferno, brings fans together digitally to celebrate the return of the Premier League to the television.
After coming to a juddering halt in mid March, the league’s restart spot showcases the nation’s endurance during the coronavirus pandemic and also highlights the role of social media in keeping football fans connected at home.
The video states ‘Together we are one team’ and goes on to thank doctors, nurses and other frontline workers for their efforts during the pandemic.
The campaign was created for the Premier League’s Commercial Director Will Brass and Marketing Manager Anna Cooke by a team at creative agency FCB Inferno which included Chief Creative Officer Owen Lee, Senior Strategist Tom Lindo, Art Director Vivien Decombe, Copywriter Gerard Roda, Creative Producer Livvy Tidd, Editor Jude Moore, Design Lead Sarni Strachan and Business Director Helena Georghiou.

This work from FCB Inferno, which was appointed as the Premier League’s agency of record around a year ago, saw the agency charged with whipping up some fan frenzy around the restart and it does a pretty good job – ticking many of the numerous ‘return to sport’ boxes that accompany so many campaigns in the current climate.
