Adidas releases a fresh film featuring its new football endorser and recent Manchester City striker signing Gabriel Jesus to the test – to see if he can run faster than fire (and activate its UEFA Champions League sponsorship).
The spot sees the young Brazilian attacker accept the challenge as he explains his own hunger to reach the top the game in a 1-minute 30-second launch spot,
and in a longer Episode 8 of ‘Gameday-Plus’ – a 3-minute 50-second full episode alongside Moise Kean.
The digital and social initiative launched on 21 February across the brand’s key football channels: as well as Adidas Football’s YouTube channel, the films are further amplified (using the #NeverFollow hashtag) across other channels such as Twitter alongside other young stars in the Adidas stable.
The campaign pieces promote the brand’s ACE17 boot and aims to drive viewers and fans to its digital retail platform to ‘shop the range’ at http://adidas.com/ace_17.

‘Gabriel Jesus: Faster Than Fire – Gamedayplus’ is part of the German sportswear giant’s ongoing #NeverFollow platform (see case study).
This latest GamedayPlus film, Episode 8, follows on from previous videos posted on February including Episode 7 (1m+ YouTube views),
and Episode 6 (325,000 YouTube views).

The timing of the film launch coincides with heightened interest in the player as he begins his Man City career with a red hot scoring streak and is released to leverage the club tackling the knock-out stages of the UEFA Champions League.
