‘Footeuses’ Documentary Shines The Spotlight On Female French ‘Concrete Footballers’

Following in the footsteps of the popular French documentaries ‘Concrete Football’ and ‘Ousmane’, comes a new initiative from Yard and Miles in the form of ‘Footeuses’: a documentary dedicated to women’s street football and urban female footballers in Paris.

Extending the ‘Concrete Football’ docu-series, ‘Footeuses’ explores the female players’ reality – whether turning out for the French Federation, for Paris Saint-Germain, or whether they are young amateurs or socially-engaged artists working around the game and its urban environments.

The documentary shows that for some it is access to the elite, professional football world which is the clear goal, while for others soccer is lived and played as a means of affirming and expressing themselves.

But whether their sights are set on the top or just expressive grassroots participation, for all of those in the film football is an essential part of their lives.

A two-minute introductory ‘Trailer’ spot,

promotes the full, long-form, 45-minute documentary.

Comment:

Footeuses certainly offers a powerful and enlightening glimpse into the grassroots game in urban Paris and acts as a celebration of the fierce culture and dedication of those who play in the French capital’s streets and urban courts.
