Everton FC Team Up With Metaverse Digital Fashion Partner Fancurve For New Season Avatar Virtual Kit

A week ahead of the 6 August start of the new 2022/23 Premier League season, Everton FC unveiled an innovative partnership with a new blockchain-enabled digital sports fashion platform Fancurve which will develop digitally-wearable shirts for the club’s supporters to dress in metaverse.

Announced by both club and sponsor via social media on 1 August, the collaboration see the US-based virtual fashion platform introduce Blues fans to officially licensed, non-replica club-branded shirts.

The announcement campaign was followed up 24 hours later by an introductory spot targeting Evertonians around the world explaining how to ‘Make Your Mark With Everton’ by signing up to the platform to become the first to know about Everton’s fashion journey into the metaverse and the first to have a chance to purchases virtual club merchandise.

Fancurve explained its design and development of ‘high-end’ digital wearables in the form of photo-realistic, custom club collections – designed and created by a new team of 3D fashion designers – which will feature themes from the club’s identity and values as an inspiration and will enable Toffees’ supporters to dress their avatars in club kits and gear in the Metaverse.

The first Everton-themed collection will be available later in 2022 and will be sold exclusively on the Fancurve platform.

“We are proud to be partnering with such a renowned Premier League club as Everton, with its fanatical fanbase and rich history,” explained Fancurve SVP Partnerships Chris Cook. “Here at Fancurve, we’re focused on updating the meaning of sports fandom for today’s digital world and redefining what it will become in the future. We are striving to be the largest and most innovative digital wearables platform for sports fans across the globe, and we see this partnership as one that can help Everton and its community grow, as we explore web3 football fandom together.”

Everton FC Chief Commercial and Communications Officer Richard Kenyon added: “We’re really pleased to welcome Fancurve to our growing partnership portfolio and are excited by the innovative opportunities that this partnership will present for the Club and our supporters. I’d like to thank our Partnership team for their work in securing this deal and Chris and his colleagues at Fancurve for choosing Everton to partner with on what I am sure will be an exciting journey.”

For a club facing all sorts of challenges on the pitch – and one which narrowly avoided a disastrous relegation last season – Everton have been making some interesting off-pitch moves and signings.

Indeed, this is Everton’s second blockchain linked sponsorship deal of the summer after its June tie-up with crypto casino and sports betting platform Stake.com.

The deal marks a further move in to football by Fancurve which also recently unveiled a new partnership with Spanish La Liga side Real Betis and the company’s management team have also additional sports ties including with Bologna FC in Italy.

The company is positioned as a Web3 launchpad for fashion and lifestyle brands in the Metaverse and its football work aims to design collaborations that bring together global fan communities through their shared passion for football, culture and fashion.
