Everton FC Becomes First PL Club To Launch New (Umbro) Kit Via Campaign Fronted By The Women’s Team

Everton have become the first Premier League club to solely use their women’s squad to launch their new kit through a new campaign called ‘Go On: Ladies First’.

Led by a spearhead launch spot, the new 2018/19 away kit – created in harness with shirt supplier Umbro – is revealed with work carrying the tagline ‘Now Your History, Be The Future’.

Stars of the club’s Women’s Super League side’s – including Chloe Kelly, Megan Finnigan, Danielle Turner and Kirsty Levell – front the Toffees’ away kit release.

The campaign launched on 19 July and was led by a hero spot running across the brand’s social channels such as YouTube,

as well as the club’s other platforms like Twitter,

Instagram,

and Facebook.

All driving viewers to the digital hub at http://www.evertonfc.com/ and online purchasing platforms.

With further support from the sportswear partner Umbro.

The Blue women’s team also debut the kit on the pitch in a 22 July game on Sunday against Liverpool Ladies (while the men’s team will wear it for the first time later that evening against FC Porto in Portugal).

“I am delighted to be a part of this ground-breaking, inspirational campaign,” Everton captain Turner said.

“To be the first women’s team to be given this opportunity is a real reflection of Everton’s one-club philosophy and their commitment to growing the profile of the women’s game.”

Comment:

The momentum behind women’s sports and women’s football continue to build and this move iss linked to the #WhatIf campaign launched by the UK based organisation Women in Football back in May.

Launched ahead of Russia 2018 to leverage spiking soccer interest in the country this is a fresh initiative that aims to change the landscape for women working in the football industry (see case study).

As well as this Everton kit launch campaign, other notable Premiership led female football initiatives in recent weeks have included Manchester United finally putting together its own women’s side with a high profile launch and some starry squad signings,

and Manchester City recently merging its men’s and women’s team digital and social channels to form a single platform (see case study).

Plus, May 2018 saw The FA and Hasbro partner on the first ever women’s version of Subbuteo for the SSE Women’s FA Cup Final (see case study).

And the revolution isn’t just a UK trend either with the likes of SAFA sponsor Sasol leveraging the World Cup to launch its much admired ‘Limitless’ women’s football campaign (see case study).
