BetVictor’s Euro 2016 Campaign Built Around ‘The Million Pound Goal’

The British bookmaker’s UEFA Euro 2016 marketing initiative revolves around giving away a guaranteed £1m at the final to anyone who predicts the first scorer and the minute in which the goal is scored.

 

Using the guaranteed £1m incentive, the campaign ads and content pieces offers a series of free bets and encourages viewers to check out the BetVictor Euro 2016 promotion and explain the competition terms – which sees anyone betting with the brand during Euro 2016 earning an entry in The Million Pound Goal.

 

Using the hashtags #MillionPoundGoal, #BVBetTheGoal and #SimpleAS, the approach to the activity is one based around clarity and simplicity:

> 1 Player
> 1 Minute
> 1 Million

 

The campaign, developed in harness with creative agency Mr President, is built around a collaboration with digital animator and YouTube star Richard Swarbrick.

 

Swarbrick has developed the carton creative for a central TV spot which is voiced by veteran UK sport commentator Barry Davies.

 

The ad campaign, which first debuted well before the tournament kicked off on 18 May, closes with the endline: ‘It doesn’t matter how it goes in, just when and by who’.

 

 

The TV spot is backed by plenty of social support

But not entirely original.

 

After all, BetVictor is just one of the bookies building its Euro 2016 work around a central competition.

 

This is the first campaign for BetVictor by independent agency Mr President – which won the tournament brief earlier in the year.
