Umbro Ambassador & Hammers Star Antonio Hams It Up For Valentine’s Day Video Spoof

West Ham United attacker Michail Antonio fronts the latest tactical content spot from Umbro as the sportswear brand and athlete ambassador unveil a spoof spot for Valentine’s Day.

The video’s narrative sees the Hammers wide man take a date back to a hotel room and give her a gift: but what starts with some suggestively risqué stripping turns into something quite different as the two show off their spoof moves.

The commercial’s twist is that the creative ends up focusing less on knickers and naughtiness and more on fabulous football footwear and dance move goal celebrations as the pair recreate some of the most famous scoring celebrations from Peter Crouch’s robot to Gazza’s dentist chair.

The comic clip, which promote the new orange/blacl Umbro Velocita 3 boots, was first posted on the brand’s YouTube channel late on 13 February,

before being amplified across its other digital platforms and social sites from Twitter

to Facebook throughout Valentine’s Day.

Like the look of the orange pop/black Umbro Velocita 3 football boots seen in the clip? They’re available now!

Activative Comment:

It’s commercial comedy gold from the former Nottingham Forest player, but perplexing for West Ham fans who haven’t seen Antonio’s goal celebration since last year.

Umbro is building something of a heritage for comic clips on Valentine’s Day.

Its 2017 spot follows on from last year’s ‘Pepe’s New Boots’ campaign (see case study).
