Actors Anil Kapoor and Jaaved Jaaferi face up against one another as rivals in a new campaign from Star Sports promoting its coverage of the upcoming and much anticipated series between India and Australia.
Billed as a ‘Battle of Equals’, the idea behind the campaign is that the two players have finally put an end to all the speculation and have announced a new project and this plays out across a four-part video promo series featuring Kapoor as Mr India and Jaaferi as an Australian supporter after having moved to the country.
The series of TVCs thrives on banter and sees each take on the other in a set of one-upmanship contests which are filled with fun, tongue-in-cheek humour and comic timing.
The humour led creative features the duo engage in light-hearted banter around the series – which starts on 14 January – with long distance calls and leg-pulling as the two friends and passionate fans builds up the excitement by debating topics such as ‘Who’s the greatest batsman’ to provide conversation fuel for fans to spread the campaign perr-to-peer.
A day prior to the main campaign going live, Jaaved nudged Anil Kapoor with a nostalgic tweet which led to a series of tweets between the actors on their own channels before the main campaign aired on television.

Conceptualised by Star Sports’ in-house team, the campaign aims to build hype for the upcoming India-Australia series and thus boost audiences once the cricket starts.

Friendly in tone, it is the kind of light-hearted banter that seeks to spread series chat from the screen to the fans.
The Paytm India vs Australia ODI series will consist of three ODI’s starting 14th January 2020 and will be broadcast exclusively on the Star Sports Network and Hotstar.
