Samsung Expands Team GB Activation Via Immersive 360 Degree Of BOA Olympic Home Base

Samsung is offering an exclusive behind the scenes look at Team GB’s Rio Olympics base in a new 360° tour.

 

The South Korean conglomerate first shared a 360-degree video tour of the British Olympic Association’s temporary home for the Rio Games on its official YouTube channel so fans could have a peek inside Team GB’s Olympic HQ

 

The immersive video experience explore the British House, situated at the Parque Lage (at the foot of the Corcovado in the shadow of the Christ the Redeemer statue), who’s old-school external architecture contrasts with a modern interior kitted out with modern, high-tech Samsung’s latest technology that ranges from tablets and television, to telecoms and connectivity kit.

 

It also offers a glimpse of the stars’ daily Olympic lives and shows how British athletes relax outside of competition.

 

 

The tactic behind the phase of Samsung’s Team GB partnership is to provide fans with greater access to the team, the stars and thus the Games themselves.

 

‘Using Samsung’s cutting edge technology and our partnership with Team GB we have created a way of bringing fans closer to the Team GB experience in Rio,; explains Samsung Electronics UK chief executive Russell Taylor.

 

‘The 360 degree tour allows fans to get a flavour of the Olympic Games from the comfort of their own home.’

The tour is the latest move in Samsung’s sponsorship of the Games, which kicked off with the School of Rio campaign: a series of films featuring Jack Whitehall and a selection of talent from Team GB and Team Ireland (see case study).

 

More Olympic VR content from Samsung is imminent with the first ever VR interviews with team GB athletes taking place this coming weekend.

 

It also follows on from its VR led rugby work at the 6 Nations (see case study), the Student Winter Olympics (see case study) and its surfing sponsorship (see case study).

 

As well as a Team GB partner, Samsung is also the IOC worldwide Olympic partner in the Wireless Communications Equipment category for the Olympics 2016 in Brazil and the spearhead strands of its global activation include ‘One World, One Anthem’ and ‘The Chant’ (see case study).
