Rosberg & ABB FIA Formula E Launch Greentech Festival #CelebrateChange Ahead Of Berlin E-Prix

The 2016 Formula 1 world champion Nico Rosberg and the ABB FIA Formula E Championship helped launch the Greentech Festival in Berlin – an exhibition, conference and award ceremony focus on sustainable innovations – to celebrate a green future together.

Running alongside the weekend’s Berlin E-Prix and expecting to attract as many as 30,000 visitors over its three days (from 23 to 25 May) at the former BerlinTempelhof Airport, the inaugural festival claims to be the world’s biggest sustainability festival.

The event, promoted across the event and the driver’s online channels in harness with CAA Brand Consulting, aims to champion, celebrate and inspire green technologies of the future – from established mobility brands and ambitious start-ups – and runs under an event slogan ‘Celebrate Change’.

The Greentech Festival was founded by 2016 Formula 1 world champion Nico Rosberg with entrepreneurs Marco Voigt and Sven Krüger and it partnered with the ABB FIA Formula E Championship.

As well as the eco tech from more than 60 international exhibitors, the festival also features a concert by British band Bastille (part of the environmentally neutral Telekom Street Gigs series),

flights in the fully electric Volocopter, rides in the Ehang drone taxi and the German premiere of the Pininfarina Battista electric hypercar.

Exhibitors such as Google, Veloform and Insnack also present their perspective son what the details of a sustainable lifestyle can look like, while there are keynotes from Professor Dr Johan Rockström (the world’s leading climate researcher), EU Transport Commissioner Violeta Bulc, National Geographic explorer Asher Jay and HRH Crown Prince Haakon of Norway.

The umbrella objective is to encourage a new, positive attitude towards change and more enthusiasm for sustainable technologies.

“We celebrate visionary idea creators and green solutions, companies and individuals who make a significant contribution to the preservation of our planet, commented Rosberg.

“With the Greentech Festival, we want to create a global hub for the future’s green technologies with which we can best reach every single person worldwide and inspire them to adopt a conscious lifestyle,” explains co-founder Voigt.

The festival follows hot on the heels of the launch of the trailer and the premiere of ABB FIA Formula E Championship’s ‘And We Go Green’.

This new Formula E documentary, which was directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Fisher Stevens and Malcolm Venville, premiered at Cannes Film Festival, takes viewers behind the scenes of the electric street racing series and highlighting the purpose of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship as a proving ground for electric technologies in a bid to combat climate change and air pollution.
