A trio of players from UEFA Champions League finalists Real Madrid teamed up with games-maker Activation Blizzard and content production company 433 in one strand of the launch campaign for ‘Call of Duty: Warzone – Operation Monarch’.

Eduardo Camavinga, Frederico Valverde and Vinicius Jr went after Godzilla and Kong when they took part in a challenge within ‘Operation Monarch’: a new timed mode of the ‘Call of Duty: Warzone’ game which saw the footballers face various challenges as they aimed to unlock rewards for members of the 433 community.

The blended sport and entertainment marketing initiative, which saw Real Madrid trio finish 16th, generated a live experience and a suite of digital-first promotional content – led by Instagram video amplified by 433, the club and the plyers – rolled out in the lead-up to the Champions League Final in Paris on 28 May as the gamesmaker, content creator and club sought to capitalise on spiking attention around the soccer stars ahead of club football’s most watched annual match.
